A little bit about our Head Coach, Julie
Julie Ring is an accredited netball coach who has played netball for over 30 years. Julie has played at State League and Representative Level, and continued to play representative netball until her over 40s.
Julie’s true passion lies in coaching, she coaches young players, teenagers and young women at representative and state league levels. Julie believes in motivating and inspiring young girls to play sport, to be active and make new friendships that can be nurtured through team sports, like netball.
Julie has been coaching at Lane Cove Netball Club since 2011, the club won its first grand final in 2012. Julie was an integral part of the growth of netball at LCNC and the development of its players. Recently older players have come back to LCNC to renew old friendships through netball, having found Julie has developed their skills and friendships, by being a mentor, inspiration and coach.
Julie is delighted to have the opportunity to continue to work with your children and give her passion and enthusiasm for netball to new players. Julie’s approach is always about learning techniques and skills to develop each player individually as well as connect with their team mates. Netball is a powerful way to develop friendships and stay active, it provides a sense of achievement and can be very rewarding for all.
“Many girls lose interest in sport around 14, I am so proud to say that the girls I have coached since they were 10 years old still play – they return and we accommodate their life changes and school needs, watching them play as they approach adulthood is exciting and rewarding. Many of them will become coaches and the cycle of LCNC begins! This is what I am most passionate about.” Julie Ring – Head Coach

Whats your vision for the players/club
I am hopefull that Lane Cove Netball Club will continue to thrive as an integral member of the NSNA competition and the Lane Cove community. In the coming years, I hope the club will grow in numbers to provide a bigger playing group to enable the club to be even more competitive in the Northern Suburbs Netball Association. My wish is that most of our players will continue to umpire, coach and play with Lane Cove Netball Club as they grow into teenagers and adults.
Why do you love coaching?
I love coaching because it is so gratifying to see our players improve their skills at training and on game day every week. Netball allows players to grow in strength and confidence as their skills are fine tuned and they learn to play a part in a team environment.
What would you say to someone thinking about being a coach?
I would say it’s a very rewarding experience to watch a group of girls come together and enjoy sport within a team and a community. Sharing your knowledge and experiences of the game and also personally to develop our future players is a very worthwhile position.
